Obsidian was a potential film based on the book of the same name, written by Jennifer L. Armentrout. In July 2013 it was announced Sierra Pictures had acquired the movie rights and would finance and produce the film adaptation of Obsidian.
Sierra's Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg would executive produce the movie, with Sierra/Affinity handling international sales. Sierra/Affinity senior VP of production and acquisitions Kelly McCormick and senior VP of sales Kristen Figeroid were instrumental in bringing in the property. McCormick would oversee production.[1]
In September 2015 Jennifer announced Obsidian was still optioned for a major motion picture. The options were renewed and up to date. She assured fans the team at Sierra/Affinity was still 100% behind the movie option.[2]
In October 2015 the movie had found a screenwriter, Ava Dellaria, she was picked by Sierra Pictures and Mr. Mudd who was now also producing the film.[3]
In December 2017 Jennifer announced the Film/TV rights to Obsidian had reverted from Sierra Affinity back to her and Entangled Publishing. But assured fans that there was still a possibility of Obsidian being adapted in the future.[4]
Plot[]
The story follows Katy Swartz as she moves to rural West Virginia just before her senior year, resigned to a life of boredom. Things look up when she meets Daemon Black, her neighbor, but she quickly finds herself infuriated by his arrogance. However, Daemon and his sister soon turn out to have otherworldly powers with a galaxy of enemies pursuing them, with Katy caught in their crosshairs.
